Established in 2015, Tredworth Residents Association has an active diverse management committee of local residents who seek to promote and represent the interests and concerns of the community by providing a forum for residents and stakeholders on local matters. We also seek to enhance and improve the physical character of and communal relationships within Tredworth. Formerly known as Tredworth Estates, Tenants & Resident Association (TETRA for short), we changed our name to Tredworth Residents Association (TRA) in 2024.

Tredworth Residents Association covers the geographical area of Gloucester GL1 encompassed by the Tredworth side of Stroud Road, Furlong Road, Midland Road, Falkner Street, Regent Street, the Tredworth side of Ryecroft Street (from the Bail Hostel)  and Upton Street to Hatherley Road, to the railways lines behind Hartland Road.

Our Aims

To provide a safe fun space for people from Tredworth to meet each other, socialise and find new friends.

To promote local community relationships by working together regardless of age, ethnic origin, ability, sex, belief or political affiliation.

To show Tredworth is a good place to live, with a positive and friendly atmosphere through the promotion of cultural, environmental and leisure activities and events for the local community.

To establish an open safe environment for the local community that enhances their quality of life.

To involve young people in community activities and consultations, promote better relationships with the police and support local High Street businesses.

What We Do

Over the past few years we have regularly consulted with our local community over a range of issues through petitions and questionnaires. Subjects of concern and interest vary from street tree planting, parking, traffic noise and speed, to street and green space enhancement, anti-social behaviour, pedestrian seating, signage and recycling/litter.

Our event work chiefly centres around a joyful Street Party celebration held annually in June since 2016. We take a themed local approach varying in subjects from Windrush to the NHS to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Local residents organise stalls for music, food, children’s activities and street art. TETRA and local stakeholders (police and local charities) use the day to consult and liaise on a range of subjects. We also fund raise for local charities or causes. In the year of the Grenfell Tower tragedy the local community raised over £300.00. Attendance varies from 1500 to 3000 people between midday and six in the evening, usually on a Sunday.

Organising the Street Party requires TETRA to partner with a number of local voluntary sector organisations and local churches and we have also established a close working relationship with the police, both in the planning before and on the day of the party. The community can see the police provide a low key, intelligent and discreet presence; the police can see local youth completing community work, through stewarding, to ensure a peaceful day enjoyed by all. Local councillors and Gloucester City’s MP are also interested in developing a relationship with the Street Party.

Community Interaction

Tredworth Residents Association also provides a platform for people to air their opinions on the area, through community meetings and consultations. We work closely with the police, councillors, street cleaning team and other stakeholders to ensure the voice of Tredworth residents is heard.
